what is your comic collection worth?

I assume most of you have at least a few comics.....I was looking at the latest Overstreet Comic Price Guide the other day and spot checked some of my books (not that I have that many- maybe 200 total). I determined that my collections worth less than $50. (So much for using it to fund my daughters college fund).

I was able to sell my run of the original Watchmen on Ebay for $150 before the movie came out. (Now that collections probably worth $4.50).

So....the questions are:

1) what is the most expensive comic you've ever owned (you don't have to currently own it)

2) how many comics do you currently own (or what is the most you've ever owned)

Fun topic.

1) I've #2 and up of the original series of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Overstreet had #2 over $200 at one point, but I haven't checked in years. That's when #1 original was over $500

2) I've eight long boxes stored away. The local comic store says their effectively worthless considering my collection era, so I'm keeping them for my kids.

cheers

My friend tried to get every prepubescent-radioactive-mutant-hamster-turtle #1 that came out, thinking that he'd be table to retire 20 years early.

Well, needless to say he's still stuck at his job.

I sold my X-Men collection to pay for my honeymoon. I got $1400, 25 years ago.
