Color your own supers idea

Post by Dustland »

Hey guys, I was wondering if this would be something useful for your games. I was thinking about doing some lineart of various generic supers and releasing it via rpgnow.com.

It would allow you to color in your own superhero/villain as you see fit. I would also include token images and two sided paper mini images for use at the gaming table (so you color, print, cut, fold, tape, and go game!)

It would be cheap, 10 images for a $1 or around there. Is that something you guys would be interested in?

I've actually been interested in using some clip art, but truth be told, I can't color for *, so black and white wouldn't work for me. Maybe you could do 2 versions; 1 that is black and white, and colored pieces you could charge a little more for?

It could be a good idea and very reminiscent of a certain "Marvelous" Superheroes set from back in the day. I think you might see less interest in this as a lot of folks have direct access to many artists. We know of the infamous DEATH TRIBBLE from the many threads delighting fans of Storn Cooks art. That dude buys a crap ton of commissions and I am glad that he does as Storn posts a lot of his commission work online (i enjoy seeing them).

But you also have programs like Fabrica de Herois that allows you to build the hero you want in all it's cell shaded glory.

SO while you might find someone who would like to harken back to the colored pencil filled eras of bygone games, i believe that gamers have access to many resources that would allow them to do the same thing. Now if you did black and white line art for art packs... Some one like me would by them and then color the H-E-Double Hockey sticks out of them to use in products.

2cents...

Yeah. What Walt said makes a lot of sense. A uniquely coloured piece of art disquises it from that 'seen it' attitude I find myself thinking whenever I come across art I've spotted in two or three different products. (But like urbwar commented, I too, suck at colours.)
