Definitely not, IMO. You have the logo and the name down the bar, which is a really nice combo of bold yet not overwhelming; it somehow doesn't detract from the content at all while being nicely noticeable. I'm not quite sure how you pulled that off.

Speaking from my perspective, it actually adds quite a bit to the character template. It's bold, but the branding on the top and bottom stays out of the way while acting almost like a bookend
You've got better design skills than you give yourself credit for (and i've told you that before, if I recall)
