Have finally fixed on BASH as my Supers rpg of choice, so expect a number of (newbie) posts asking stupid basic questions. Am also returning to roleplaying after a large number of years away.

But, one of the things that immediately struck me regarding the character sheet is that 'Hits' must be one of the most used/revised areas on the character sheet, which I'd expect to lead to holes in the sheet in short order (ie I'm assuming most character sheets are still printed out and written upon).

Given BASH's premise of 100 (or so) Hits as standard, this would seem to be far easier to keep track of using safety pins and a graded scale of hits placed on the right hand side of the sheet.

All I now need to do is learn how to use some of the graphics programs to try to create a mock up.

Does this alteration make sense to people or am I missing something?

That's a neat idea, Brazil2020. You could put a Hits Tracker column along one side of the character sheet (from 1 to 100, with 100 being at the top) and then affix a paper clip at your current HITS total (moving the paper clip up and down the sheet as you lose or heal your Hits score).

Yes, although I was thinking of two clips (one for tens and one for single digits). Rather than full numbering ie 100, 99, 98.... I was thinking of markers for 100, 90, 80....., 20, 10, 9, 8..... 2,1.

That's brilliant (and a great space savings, too)!

Haven't made up one of these up before, any suggestions as to the best way to go (vector) in my case probably Inkscape, or (bitmap) probably Gimp? I'd assume vector scales/prints better but would be grateful for any hints.....

I generally use Excel (the old 2003 version I have) as a page-layout tool whenever I make a character sheet. I just make all the cells 17 pixel squares and use text boxes and shape boxes for content and dress (inserting character's picture in the assigned space).

You could easily do the same with Calc, an alternative to Excel (available in the FREE OpenOffice software), and also have the option of making your character sheet a PDF document. Calc is compatible with Excel, and I use it to make the PDFs.

Get OpenOffice here:

Excel and Calc take a little bit of tinkering with to get the hang of, but either is totally workable tool.
